Temperament: Peaceful; Peaceful. Like other tetras, the Green Neon must be kept in a school of at least 6.
Diet: Ominvore; The Green Neon Tetra will take almost any food you give to it. Flake food is readily taken as well as live and frozen food.
Care: Almost identical to the Cardinal Tetra. Green Neon Tetras should be kept in at least a 10 gallon aquarium. They require soft water and low lights. Floating plants may be used for shelter from bright lights. Feed flakes once a day. Feed live or frozen food once a week or while conditioning only. Do not use live or frozen food as a staple food for these fish.

Gender: Males are slender while females are wider with deep stomachs.
Breeding: Use soft, acidic water for breeding. A pH of about 5.8 works best. Use medium-large marbles as substrate for the eggs to fall between for safety from the parents as they will eat the eggs right after spawning if given the opportunity. Remove the parents after spawning. The eggs should hatch in about 1 day. Do not use lights before the fry are hatched as this contributes to fungussed eggs. Feed on microworms and infusoria when free swimming.
Variants:
Comments: One of the less common tetras. They are just now becoming readily available globaly. Just as beautiful as the Cardinal Tetra and more brilliant than the Neon Tetra. They are excellent fish and are quite hardy.
