Care:
| Feed good quality pellets, and frozen foods such as bloodworm and shrimp. A large tank is required with many large hiding places among rocks and caves. A large area for swimming is essential.

Gender:
| Males have a red/orange marking on fins and a blue tinge to its face/head.

Breeding:
| 1 male to 2 or 3 females. The male prepares the spawning site and defends it against intruders. Polystigma have large broods and it is recommended to separate fry by size as the larger fry may eat smaller fry.
