Care:
| Feed with flakes and small live foods such as brine shrimp. Rainbowfish are undemanding and easy to keep. Partial sunlight and a planted tank with some swimming room are important in the Rainbowfish life cycle. Frequent water changes are required.

| The mature male's dorsal and anal fins are larger and more colourful than the female's.

Breeding:
| A small amount of salt in the water may help with spawning the Rainbowfish. Use a temperature of around 28°C. The eggs are laid around the bases of fine leaved plants. 20-30 eggs are laid daily. Feed the parents well and once spawning is over remove the parents and cover the tank as the eggs are sensitive to light and fungus. If breeding this fish, it is highly recomended to keep them as a species only tank. As with all rainbows, they will cross breed.
