Care: Feed sinking cichlid pellets. The Elephantnose Cichlid normally feeds by picking through the sandy bottom, so fine grave or sand is recommended. Hiding places among rocks and caves are essential. A large swimming area is also important.

Gender: Males have a blue tinge (sometimes completely blue) with a yellow tip on the dorsal and anal fins. Females are mottled grey and brown.
Breeding: The Elephantnose Cichlid is a mouth brooder. About twenty eggs are produce during a spawning and are kept in the female's mouth for around three weeks.
