Amblygobius rainfordi

Common Names: Old Glory
Rainford's Goby
Synonyms:
Family: Gobiidae
Category: Blennoid_Gobioid
Distribution: Pacific - Western
Main Ecosystem: Reef
Temperament: Peaceful; Peaceful; should be kept with other peaceful tankmates. Can be reclusive when first introduced, or if kept with aggressive or boisterous tankmates. Only aggressive towards closely related species.
Diet: Ominvore; Mainly a sand sifter, continuously searching among sand and rock for copepods, worms, and detrius. Seen eating filamentous algae, and some insist it is important for their survival to have a crop of algae. Though rare, can be coerced into eating frozen mysis and brine shrimp, as well as veggie fares. Grazers; feed 2-3 times a day.
Care: A great reef and invert safe fish that usually only does well in a tank of at least 30 gallons with plenty of live rock on which to graze. A refugium is also suggested to keep up levels of live foods, which the Rainford's Goby seems to need to do well in captivity.
