i saw a great veiltail zebra angel in my LFS, it was about 10cm or so.
i was wondering would there be any harm in putting it, as a single specimen, in my 55G which is already accomodated by
2x blue rams
2x pearl gouramis
1x BN
5x bronze corys
9x black neons
9x glo-lights

My female pearl gourami is incredibly territorial and will go out of her way to attack fish on the opposite side of my 75g, so she would surely be aggressive towards an angel.I dont know if your gouramis are as territorial, but i have heard that angels should generally not be kept with gouramis, so no, i wouldn't keep an angel in that tank.

it could work, I would rearrange the tank the day you put it in there, this will make all the fish establish a new territory and keep them from going after the new fish

The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an bacon and egg breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'."

Most people I asked said gouramis and angels do get along more often than not. I put mine together without problems and later put the angel with a male betta. If you add the angel last and it's still fairly small I think it would work fine. Pearl gouramis are also some of the less agressive gouramis and not as likely to push for territory as some of the others. I think zachf92 has a very overly agressive pearl compared to most.

I think it would be fine myself.
I kept angels and pearl gouramis together with
no issues whatsoever.
Zachs gourami is definitely the exception,
these fish are usually very peaceful, espescially
the females.

If you plan on getting 1 angel, maybe consider more.
They are fine kept singly, but do enjoy the company
of their own kind.

firstly my gouramis have never shown that much aggresion they both just glide around looking simple.
i would like to keep more than one angel but i dont think there would be enough room in my tank for more.
is it a possibility thet the angel will eat the tetras?

It is highly unlikely that the angel
would eat your glowlights or black neons.
Ive kept large angels with glowlights with no
problems whatsoever.
Its only neons they go after, and I think its entirely
related to the color of the fish, red and blue.
My angels show no interest in any fish thats not
a neon, not even white clouds.

Also, I definitely think you have room
for 1 or 2 or even 3 angels.
Your tank is quite understocked, imho.

Good luck with the Angels & i'm sure you wouldn't have any problems, as i kept Angels with Pearl Gourami without problems.

Ok i got my angels, unfortunately one is not a veil. they are kinda diferent to zebras. they were labelled as silver veil zebras in the shop, they have the zebras stripes but the also have dotted lines. they also have pinky, maroon like iredesence on the top of there heads and an overal sheen of olive and apple green. im happy.

Congrats on the New Angels! I hope they will be fine with your smaller fish. Unfortunately my Angels eat small fish. I woke up this morning to having one less platy in my tank. I thought I bought large enough ones but I guess not. they are about 1.5" and my angels are 5 years old and about 5". Just a word of warning. Everyone says that if they can fit it in their mouth they will eat it. I believe that now having experienced it. Good luck!

Correction: After a second search of my tank I found that poor platy under a rock. He unfortunately expired, but I can once again trust my Angels. Sorry for tarnishing the reputation of Angel fish!

thanx for tha warning, ive already seen a bit of no so nice behavior as in they chace the small tetras a bit.
iwas talking to the manager of the LFS about the angels the other day, he said my angels were peruvian wild court cross with veil zebras. im spewing now that i have the pearl gouramis because with a couple more angels it would be a great amazon theme tank.

i think my next project, when i get sum more $$$, will be a 125G-200G with mainly echindoras species and 5 or so peruvian angels with 5 or so peruvian green discus.
