We all know that catfish help keep our tanks clean by eating all the food and alge that sinks to the bottom of the tank but is there a creature of any sort that will do the same in a pond
ps I am in Malta which simple means that I have hot summers 35C and cold winters as low as 3C

Hi,

A Channel Catfish wouldn't be a bad idea, as long as the pond is big enough. They can get up to 36 inches in length after a few years! Another option would be the Dojo loach. Throw in a few of them and you could even get your own little colony with luck.

Cheers,
Josh

Snails will eat food that falls to the bottom, for that matter goldfish make great bottom feeders too .
The issue with snails is that not all are plant friendly so if you've planted the pond, they may cause more harm than good. But remember that snails will also create waste, and if they reproduce enough you may have much more waste than they're worth .
