most expensive near me was £9000.

Thats pounds.

It was a huge golden beast they had in a display pond out the front of the shop.

they have koi in all year ranging from about 10 quid to 3-4000.

I'm LOVING koi!!! As a kid a schoolfriend had a beautiful pond in her garden. I loved feeding them. One day, one day... obviously when I don't live in a unit.

Moondog, those fish are exceptional.
The one on the right looks to be a Ogon Koi,
or at least part Ogon.
The one on the right is a regular koi.
I think a good asking price for these fish would
be $100 each for the regular koi, and $200 each
for the Ogon koi.
I have seen calico Ogon koi 6 inches long go for
over 300 dollars here.

my dad has a pond that has a couple of koi which are both pretty large (over 15 inches each). he was thinking of selling them but doesn't know what a good price would be.

nothing fancy like u said, but still large koi are often sort after by "richer" people and they will pay. a good range is about 100 for each. that seems reasonable.

but on a funny note, just make sure u get more than 3 dollars for each, and u maid something.

he got them at a lfs for about $3 each, but i don't know how to tell if they're "common" or not. one is pretty plain looking, it's pretty solid orange, the other is a "calico" type coloring, white with orange, brown and black markings up and down its body. i can't get a good pic right now cause of all the rain, the pond is pretty green but he said he needs to clean it out once the rain stops, and then i'll be able to get some good pics of them

As said above it all depends on size colouration and where they are from.

Japan koi's are worth alot more then any other koi.

make it easier to price post photos so we know what type of koi they are.
And does you dad know which shop they where form and how much he paid for them.

if they are 15inches and 'common' kois with no special colours they would sell in england for 15-30 pounds not sure what that is in dollers

If japan koi with perfect colours and a rare colour at that your looking at more like £200 +

Like said before it really depends.
I have seen run of the mill average type koi
run from about 100 dollars up for large ones a foot long and more.
Others, such as platinum ogons and fancier types,
I have seen sell for as much 5-600 dollars and up!
They would probably have to know what type they are in order to determine a price.
However, a ball park figure of anywhere from 100 - 500 dollars would probably be appropriate.
