I went into the kitchen just now to feed the fish 20 minutes before I turn out the lights and I saw these. My angel happily muching on them. Should I snip the leaf off and put it in a breeding net? Or are they just blanks? I have one angel, 6 platies, and 3 ottos. Have any idea what they could be from? Definately not the platies, and would the angel lay eggs with no male, I don't even know what sex it is.

Smaller, but a little more clear, some eggs are white, some are clear.

Well, I thought the angelfish was eating the eggs, but it seems it's only hovering over them. The angel just chased the platies away.

Edit: I guess it's a she and she thinks she's going to have babies.

Haha, That angel sounds confused. I wonder why not all of the eggs haven't turned white yet, usually they will turn white quickly without being fertilized.

correct me if i am wrong, but should most parent cichlids be left with their eggs as they are need to fan oxygen to the eggs?

probably sounds like she/he was eatting an egg that was bad, it isn't uncommon to find a male betta egg a couple of eggs that are infected to protect the rest of his nest.

Well most cichlids will eay their eggs the first time breeding or if they are not fertilized. Otto's lay eggs aswell but thats a lot of eggs so I would say its just the female Angel laying eggs.

Definately angelfish eggs. Eventually they will all be eaten.
Most cichlid parents are pretty good at hatching and rearing eggs.
Some breeders will pull the eggs though and use an airstone at low setting to create a current and fan the eggs.

She's still protecting the eggs. They're all white now. She's got that "LEAVE MY BABIES ALONE" attitude, and no babies, lol. My husband wants to take the platies out and get her a mate.

I was just worried they were the ottos eggs and the angelfish would eat them. But my ottos usually hang out on that plant and she's chased them to the other side of the tank as well. Would it be best for me to take the eggs out or will she eventually figure out they aren't going to hatch?

She started ignoring them. They were getting fuzzy all over too. So I scraped them off the leaf with a fish net and scooped them out.
