Rob1619 Fish Addict Posts: 763 Kudos: 619 Votes: 626 Registered: 01-Sep-2004 | Well here are some few that i found. 1)Amarican eel(Anguilla rostrata) can get 3-4 feet long 2)Spiney eels,grow to 12" 3)Fire eel,can get 39" 4)Peacock eel 5)Tire track eel Wihchever eel you end up choosing,make sure your aquarium has a tight cover and the filters are adequately coverd to prevent the eel from roaming or escaping! Although a very interesting creature it feeds on fish 2" or less and will get out of the tank for a looksee around the room, even with the lid closed. How, I do not know but mind did it several times. |

Racso Mega Fish Some Assembly Required Posts: 1163 Kudos: 1442 Votes: 35 Registered: 19-Feb-2002 | every type of eel i have owned (mostly spiney eels [which includes the tiretrack, fire, peacock, and the like]) are ESCAPE ARTISTS!!! If you have a HOB filter, i wouldn't reccomend trying these guys. Only canister filters when your can seal around the tubes are safe for these guys. |
