Well here are some few that i found.
1)Amarican eel(Anguilla rostrata) can get 3-4 feet long
2)Spiney eels,grow to 12"
3)Fire eel,can get 39"
4)Peacock eel
5)Tire track eel
Wihchever eel you end up choosing, make sure your aquarium has a tight cover and the filters are adequately coverd to prevent the eel from roaming or escaping!
Nr.1,2 and 3 gets to big for your tank.the nr.4 and 5 should be okey for your tank.

I know human beings and fish can co-exist peacefully.

I would stay clear of the tulip eel, although I have not seen that recently in the LFS around me. Although a very interesting creature it feeds on fish 2" or less and will get out of the tank for a looksee around the room, even with the lid closed. How, I do not know but mind did it several times.

every type of eel i have owned (mostly spiney eels [which includes the tiretrack, fire, peacock, and the like]) are ESCAPE ARTISTS!!! If you have a HOB filter, i wouldn't reccomend trying these guys. Only canister filters when your can seal around the tubes are safe for these guys.
