for the two gallon you could do a betta and a snail or shrimp...

you could even make the 2g a tiny shrimp tank with some small pieces of drift wood and anubias.

as fpor the 20 there are many options if you havent already decided to do...

Option one:
Deep sand bed with A few large chunk of Drift Wood covered in anubias and java fern.
Then dozens of shells and about 10 of the shell dwelling Multi cichlids.

Option 2:
moderate gravel bed of a natural color
few large pieces of drift wood with anubias and java fern
random plantings of vals, crypts, and a few random stem plants
stocked with 15 cardinal tetras
5 pygmy cories
and about 40 cherry shrimp

Option 3:
Similar plantin as option 2,
but a breeding pair of kribs, 10 cardinal tetras, and 2 bristlenose plecos

there are many more these are just to get your imagination going...

there arent many options for the 2 gallon so run them by us beofer you get any thing for it!

for option 2 could i replace cardinals with neons as my LFS does not carry cardinals... and can i cut down to like 18 cherry shrimp and just let them breed when they get older? or do they need to be in big groups like that...

its better if thy are in larger groups as they feel more secure as well as it gives them a larger gene pool to pull from.

you could substitute neons for cardinals or even rummynoses etc, although i must admit you can ask your LFS to order cardinals for you as they have mush more striking colors and neons hardly compare.

I vote for the rummynoses any and everytime! They are beautiful when grouped in a shoal of 8 or more.... peaceful as can be, stunning really. I love my shoal!

I have often read here on FP that in USA Cardinals are not as strong as the Neons but I can tell you from personal experience in Aust that the Cardinals are a lot stronger in every way that is in health and colour strength.

My LFS does not carry them either but will order them in for you. Also note they will cost you a lot more than the common Neons.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
