Does a densly planted tank constitute enough 'hiding places' for timid fish or do I still need to make caves etc..

Thanks guys.

It really depends on what you are using that tank for. Chiapet is right in the sense that it depends on the fish. Live bearer's love cover as their fry can hide and survive. Where angels don't need the cover to rear their young.

Thanks for your input as always, Shane

Think of this first would you like to be out in the sun all day? I certainly do not think so. Also having done fishing for too many years it can be difficult to catch fish on hot sunny days you must fish the shadows etc.

Now saying all that I think you will find that all fish like or must have some type of cover depending on the species. My last Betta would love hiding under all the plants yet at feeding time he was always at the top. CLs love their caves, live bearers especially fry will live in top floating plants for protection many fish prefer top cover just to keep out of the light.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
