Lemon Tetra Sexing Revelation | |
sirbooks Moderator Sociopath Posts: 3875 Kudos: 5164 Votes: 932 Registered: 26-Jul-2004 | Looking at my lemon tetras today, I noticed something about the different sexes that I've never seen mentioned in books or on the 'Net. My female lemon tetras each seem to have a small spot of white on the tip of their anal fin, and have very little (if any) black on their pelvic fins. Also, it seems that the elongated part of their anal fin (the 'point', I guess you could say) curves toward their tails a little bit. My males have no white on their anal fin, their pectoral fins are fringed with a millimeter or so of black, and their anal fin tip (when flexed out) is perfectly straight, and doesn't curve at all. Has anyone else noticed this? I've just never seen a mention of this before, and I was wondering if it was normal. |

I assume that most of them came from the same area, because I bought them in groups. |
