Ok, so I bought five lemon tetras yesterday to fill out my "South American" tank. It is 30 gallons (36" long), and has four bolivian rams, five columbian tetras, and five lemon tetras. They all look great together! Is this over-crowded?
The thing about the lemon tetras is that they are all hanging out with the columbian tetras, as though they are the same species. It's fun to watch.
And the Columbian Tetra aggression seems to have lessened considerably, so that's a good thing. The Rams ignore the tetras for the most part. They have their own issues. HaHa! Still wish I could sex them, though.

Your tank doesn't sound crowded, especially since you've got smaller fish in there. It sounds like a nice setup. Getting a school of lemon tetras was a good idea, these are great little fish. You will notice that they will set up their own social heierarchy, and determine who the "big fish" of the group are. Also, they will color up considerably if you feed them live and frozen foods, so you'll probably want to go that route to see some stunning fish. Good luck with your tank.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

No you're not overcrowded. Yes, Lemon are very beautiful & the yellow is stunning. You can feed them good flake food or Brine Shrimp & their colours will get better & better.

You can also get a school of Corydoras, for your South American setup.
