Lemon tetras | |
lookin_around Hobbyist Posts: 123 Kudos: 44 Votes: 16 Registered: 31-Aug-2004 | Hey I boutght some Lemon tetras about a 2 weeks ago, and have them in a 10 gallon tank, oh theres 5 tetras(forgot that detail)....well anyway, I was wondering how long it takes them to get used to you, because mine are still hiding all the time. I'm gonna try the photobucket thing, and maybe you guys can see a pic of where they hide. Thnx |

lookin_around Hobbyist Posts: 123 Kudos: 44 Votes: 16 Registered: 31-Aug-2004 | yes the tank was cycled, I had a common pleco in there, I know that tank is way to small for one, but I didn't know until I started lookin at stuff online, so I gave him to the petstore, and I got the tetras, and they are the only ones in there, they are pretty active, it's just all behind the decorations in the tank. They don't even come out for food, they will wait until no one is in front of the tank to get it, I was just wondering cause like my betta, he would come up to the glass after a couple of days. |

My lemon tetras were like that for about a month after I bought them, even when I bumped their school up to six. Most fish (at least, most of my fish) take at least a month to become fully used to their keepers, and often hide until they are 'ready'. Once they do feel comfortable with you, they won't bother to move even if you approach the tank, and will learn that you opening the lid = food. |
