I woke up this morning to find my pleco floting in my 125. It has a jack dempsey,a jewel, and a green terror. None of the fish mentioned have ever bothered the pleco. I know it didn't starve because it was fed plenty of food. Any suggestions?

It's really hard to say. Were there any obvious wounds or damage of the pleco??

Did you actually observe him eating on a regular basis? I've had pleco's in tanks where the other fish were such gluttons that the pleco really never got any food or very little, even when feeding after lights out.

If you don't think it starved (a sunken belly would be an indicator) or got picked off by the cichlids, then water issues were likely the problem. My guess is that either the fish was killed directly by pollutants or was stressed for some reason and became ill, then died. Could you test your water and give us the results, please? Also, what is your water change schedule and how much water is removed? All of your fish are very messy when large, so pollutants sound very possible.

My pleco died too, but she was covered in white dots. Yes, it was Ick. She also infected my then 4 week old Molly. She made it though. (The Molly, not the Pleco.) I was rather sad.
