yeah stay with the neons. You could keep rams in a 10 gallon by themselves but sharing it with other fish is too much to ask. They are cichlids after all, even if peaceful, and need a little space.

Hey i was just wondering what i could do to add 2 oto's. would 9neons and 3otos be ok in a planted 10gallon?

Yeah I used to have 2 ottos, but the other died....

So definately get another, your setup sounds good.

Id get another oto, maybe 2 more. They like a few friends, just make sure you keep up with water changes.

I would go with 10 Neons in the 10 gal. tank with 25% water changes every 4 days.

Hey i dicided to fill my school of neons in my 10gallon i have 7neons and its planted, my questions is how many neons can i put in my aquariumi dont want to over pack it and i do water changes often, so how many will fit confertably i was thinkg 10-11.

Also is there a certian was to introduce my new neons to my old ones.

I've had 14 small fish in a ten gallon planted, and did water changes once a week with excellent filtration. if you do changes twice a week and keep your fitration smooth, you'll be fine. They're small fish that don't produce a lot of waste, and will get along w/o issue. As long as you don't slack or feed way too much....

Dose anyone else think differnt my lfs owner told me i could put them and i really trust him so i bought 2 and in case you guys really think i shouldint have it ill just give them to my friend and get rams.

i have found that rams will eat neons and cardinals, but that may be just me.

I do 25% almost 2times a week is that too much?

You COULD have 11 or 12 but you would definately need weekly water changes.

I myself have a planted 10 gallon with 7 cardinals and an otto.... Everything's going fine so I guess you cound have 8 and do a water change every 2 weeks. Always best to do once a week though.

I normally do once every week and a half or 2 weeks.

in a 10 gallon, 11-12 neons? i think thats way to many ,adn that tank is overstocked now.
