Temperament: | Peaceful; When the gibbiceps gets larger they tend to get territorial to others of the same breed. It is not a predator, but able to look after itself with all but the most violent tank mates. |
Diet: | Ominvore; Soft brown algae will be eaten immediately, also feed lettuce, cucumber, peas, zucchini, and etc… The larger gibbiceps can be fed prawns and pieces of freshwater trout. |
Care: | All that is needed for this fish is a shady get away, appropriate to its size. In a planted aquarium it will most likely uproot plants while forging for food amongst the bottom of the tank. As the gibbiceps produces large amounts of waste they require heavy filtration. |

Breeding: | Spawning them in a home aquarium would be very hard to do. You would need a large wall of mud or a mud bank, so that they can tunnel into it and make there spawning cave(s). In order to have this done in a home aquarium you would need a very large tank, and a lot of mud.
