Temperament: Peaceful; As they become larger they become predatory towards smaller fish.
Diet: Carnivore; A good quality flake food, also a good variety of live food such as Yabbies, shrimps, molluscs and other organisms from the bottom.
Care: They require hiding places such as PVC pipes or slate/stonework as this is a shy species and such a set-up will make this species feel more secure in its surroundings. A large aquarium will be needed also as they can get very large.

Breeding: Not accomplished in an aquarium. But in their natural habitat they lay their eggs in the warmer months in shallow areas with good water flow.
Comments: Sold as a freshwater fish in Australia. Be careful when handleing this fish as the leading edge of the fins have spines that can give you a nasty jab.
