I've kept and bred discus at 82-84F for years, many folks have.

All plants except maybe one, out of 300 species do well at these tempos.

Higher temps= less O2, more CO2 demand, faster growth rates, more algae potential.

Good CO2 and large weekly or 2x a week water changes are ideal.

Tom Barr

You should boost your tank to a minimum of 28.6C for discus with 30C being very comfortable for the fish. At 27C, the discus will slowly deteriorate.

Your plants should have few problems at 28 to 30C. I have nymphaea, c. balansae, willisi, wendti, dwarf sag, 2 different types of polysperma, a few swords and anubias in my tank without problems. Bacopa and rotalla do very well.

Do remember that discus are a schooling fish that do well in groups of 5 or more. Below 5, the aggression among the fish is not well diffused and you may lose fish to the aggression.

By the way, the tank has 3 watts per gallon with no CO2 but I use Flourish Excel and add KNO3.
